Crazy for God by Frank Schaeffer

Frank Schaeffer, the author of Crazy for God, seems to be one of a few Republicans who has the guts to stand up for RIGHT. He is a sought after public speaker who often speaks at political gatherings, churches, colleges, and business meetings. Best-selling authors Francis and Edith Schaeffer, who originally linked the evangelical christianity with the anti-abortion, were Frank's parents. So he knows all too well the detriment of abortion; on all levels.

"Schaeffer does not mince words, making his narrative honest, inflammatory and at times quite funny; despite its excess length and some confusing chronological leaps, this story of faith, fame and family in modern America is a worthy read." -- Publishers Weekly

"A story that needed to be told...A very personal and brutally honest memoir, that opens up and exposes the underbelly of the evangelistic movement...The book may open some eyes and minds about the dangers of politics and religion...A must read book for serious seekers looking for their own authentic path to enlightenment, or at least some inner peace." --American Author's Association website, December 2008

Right Winged Christian Supports President Barack Obama

He has "called out" the Republican Party for their sabotage of the American future. Although most Republicans will go, like cattle to slaughter, along with everything the "religious right" says; whether they are right or wrong. For some reason, people take information that is promoted in the media as gospel. When a certain commentator mentions something, they run with it, instead of using their God given brain and ability to think. Even when a person believes that a President is a poor choice, once that person is selected to to head the nation, God tells us to pray for our leaders, lift them up, undergird them. In fact, the author of CRAZY FOR GOD-How I Grew Up As One Of The Elect, Helped Found The Religious Right, And Lived To Take All (Or Almost All) Of It Back, Frank Schaeffer, is doing just that.

Many assumptions have been made about the administration of Barack Obama. From the performance of the stock market to the allocation of monies to banks who seemed to squander it on themselves; many Republicans without conscience will point the the finger at the President. All the while they know full well that President Obama did not cause the problems we are experiencing.  Barack Obama: Our 44th President has worked very diligently to untangle the mangled mess that the previous administration left him with.

God and the Government

God calls us to live peaceably. He is depending on each and every Christian to abide by the laws on the books. There has been much criticism that President Obama is in favor of the laws that are in place regarding abortion. I believe that as Christians, if we don't want women to get legal abortions we should change the law. Keep in mind, though, that illegal abortion has always existed. Many, many women and young girls died because abortion was illegal; but they did it anyway.

God calls us to "The Great Commission". Instead of condemning the acts of the unsaved or backslider, we are to walk in love and help to bring them the good news about God's saving grace. Christ did not set the example of hate, guilt, or condemnation. Rather, he led a love revolution. He helped people to see the error of their ways, not by beating them over the head and forcing obedience, but allowing them to see truth in love. This is the true calling for believers. When Christian women go forth and teach the girls, young women and unsaved about the love of Jesus, those who are called will do the right thing. They will become active Christians and decide for themselves that abortion is wrong and that they should not do it.

How Free People Move Mountains: A Male Christian Conservative and a Female Jewish Liberal on a Quest for Common Purpose and Meaning
Mired in self-indulgence and consumerism, Americans have lost their way, argues this passionate appeal for a return to traditional values. Framed as a dialogue between the coauthors of AWOL. Schaeffer, a founder of the modern evangelical movement, and Roth-Douquet, a Jewish liberal and former Clinton aide, the book asserts that obsession with materialism has produced a citizenry more unfulfilled, depressed and alienated from government and community than at any time in history. Their solution requires understanding that our lives have meaning and purpose derived either from God (Schaeffer) or from the self-evident laws of nature and teachings of great men (Roth-Douquet). Their conclusion is neither trite nor simplistic; it comes with the obligation to live a moral life, respect others (not simply those who share our beliefs) and sacrifice for the common good. Readers who get beyond the authors' early liberal-conservative sniping will discover that they set a fine example by curbing their ideological differences in their effort to unite and heal a deeply divided nation.
